What are the goals and nature of preliminary investigations
?
Before starting IVF, the following tests are required :
In the female partner:
-
Blood
tests aimed at establishing a thorough hormonal profile
and ensuring that nothing can jeopardize the onset of a pregnancy
(rubella, toxoplasmosis, etc ...);
-
Hysterosalpingography
and ultrasound examination to define
the precise anatomical status of pelvic reproductive organs.
In the male partner:
-
One
or preferably several sperm analyses (spermogram) to determine concentration, degree of mobility and rate of morphological
normality of spermatozoa;
-
If
deemed necessary, physical examination and sometimes hormonal and/or
chromosomal assessment.
-
Detection
and treatment of reproductive tract infection is also required.
Together
with information from a medical interview of the couple,
the results of preliminary investigations will enable
us to orient treatment correctly.
